Similarity and Plagiarism Policy

Original Work

Authors must submit original work, cite all sources accurately, use quotation marks for verbatim text, obtain required permissions, and disclose related manuscripts or prior dissemination. Plagiarism, self-plagiarism, duplicate publication, inappropriate text recycling, fabricated citations, and unattributed use of data, images, tables, or ideas are prohibited.

Similarity Screening

AMCR may screen submissions before peer review, during revision, or after publication using similarity-detection tools and manual checks. A similarity percentage is not treated as an automatic finding. Editors evaluate the location, nature, source, extent, citation, and scholarly context of each overlap. Reference lists, standard methodological language, and correctly quoted material are assessed differently from unattributed copying of original expression, data, or ideas.

Editorial Response

When concerning overlap is identified, the journal may request an explanation and source material, require correction, return the manuscript for revision, reject the submission, or begin a formal integrity review. Serious or repeated concerns may be referred to the authors' institutions or other relevant bodies. Authors are given a reasonable opportunity to respond.

Published Articles

Substantiated plagiarism or redundant publication discovered after publication may lead to a correction, retraction, expression of concern, or other notice that is permanently linked to the article. AMCR uses relevant COPE guidance and considers the evidence and reliability of the scholarly record.

Reviewer and Editor Conduct

Reviewers and editors must not use, reproduce, or disclose unpublished material for personal advantage. Suspected overlap should be reported confidentially to the editor with supporting evidence.
